Booked or looking at one of these five Colorado wedding venues for your big day? Consider hiring a live wedding painter to capture the moment and the view.
The Little Nell
Ask any vendor where they want to work in Colorado and you're sure to get a response like, "Well, The Little Nell obviously, but some other venues I love are..". The Little Nell is popular for too many reasons to list. A few frontrunners are the fact that it is in Aspen, which makes for a great destination wedding location. The gondola ride to the top is an experience in and of itself that leads you to a breathtaking view of mountain peaks as far as the eye can see. The service and experience at The Little Nell is top-notch and memorable in evey way.
As a wedding painter who specializes in mountain vistas featuring a stunning couple during their wedding ceremony, The Little Nell is endlessly worthy of capturing on canvas. A landscape painting of Aspen is sought after for many a mountain home. A custom landscape painting of Aspen featuring you and your honey during the most pivotal moment of your life; unreal!
Camp Hale
Nestled between Vail and Leadville, Camp Hale is an oasis in the middle of remote Colorado that has the feel of adventure many seek when coming here. A working nordic center with a beautiful lodge, pond surrounding a ceremony island that can be fished during cocktail hour, guest cabins, and sunsets that you wouldn't believe, Camp Hale has an authentic Colorado feel.
The view from the ceremony site includes layers upon layers of stunning nature. Starting with the island itself that is surrounded by lush grasses and purple wildflowers and moving beyond that to the reflective water. The valley heading up a dirt road to a tower and a hut (I've been up this road on skis) moves the eye from sage brush and pine trees to tree line and possibly even snow. A layered, dynamic landscape painting that features a lush wedding ceremony and a happy couple. Let's put that above your fireplace!
Telluride Mountain Weddings
Telluride Mountain has two ceremony locations and one is just as perfect as the other. San Sophia is about midway up the mountain at the top of the main gondola, which makes logistics slightly easier as guests ride the gondola to the site. San Sophia looks into the town of Telluride and the iconic box canyon surrounding it. Depending on the season, you might see yellow aspens, snow, or waterfalls. If Telluride holds great meaning for you, a painting of this view is going to be a staple in your home and a wonderful piece of nostalgia to take you back.
Palmyra Overlook is at the very top of the mountain and requires some solid four wheel drive vehicles to make it to the top. Once you're there, a massive rocky and snowy peak greets you as well as a yurt for cocktail hour. Of all the venues I have ever painted at, Palmyra has the most up close and personal view of a rocky Colorado mountain I've experienced.
Black Canyon Inn
Nestled on the outskirts of Estes Park, CO with a view of Rocky Mountain National Park, the landscape beyond the ceremony deck at Black Canyon is expansive and filled with nature. Painting here offers an opportunity to capture the ceremony with vibrant and saturated light while leaving the mountains in a muted and heavily atmospheric tone to provide great depth within the piece. For couples who have spent good time in the park, want to share Rocky Mountain with their out of town guests, and enjoy seeing elk herds on the daily, Black Canyon Inn is full of memorable experiences.
Garden of the Gods Resort
Breathtaking doesn't cut it this time. Something about Garden of the Gods is so dynamic that it feels alive. Each time I have painted here, the moving clouds create ever-changing light and the sunsets lead everyone to stand awestruck facing the mountains.
A painting of Garden of the Gods behind your ceremony, whether you choose your vows, first kiss, or celebratory walk down the aisle, is sure to be as dynamic as the red rocks behind you. I have yet to figure out how immovable rocks can feel so in motion, but perhaps it isn't something to be figured out. A live wedding painter will capture this light and energy for you to get lost inside of for years to come.
